The 'granota' team led by Paco López close the 2018 with a defeat against Rayo Vallecano (2-1), arrive at the Christmas break with 22 points and occupying the position number 10 in the table of LaLiga Santander.
In the intens fog of Vallecas, Paco López gave an opportunity to Borja Mayoral who was a starter; meanwhile the local team was looking for a breath before the stop. The squad coached by Míchel started strong, aware that the only option was the win. Rayo came out to impose a high rhythm, trying to get three vital points.
After 22 minutes, the local team scored the first goal of the game. Álex Moreno broke out on the left side and put a cross that founded Toño's feet and introduced the ballo into his goal. Levante reacted and, before the half time, had a chance to tie. However, Rochina's shoot from outside the area was caught by the rival keeper.
In the second half, the 'granotas' came out more plugged while Rayo paid the defensive weakness. Morales put a cross from the right side, Borja Mayoral let the ball pass and Rochina appeared to equalize the score. However, the joy was ephemeral.
Rayo Vallecano was looking for the win and for the three points and, in the fog of Vallecas, a ray of light appeared: Raúl de Tomás. The striker chased a ball rejected by Oier to score the final 2-1.
Levante achieved the seventh defeat of the season, occupying the tenth position of the table. Borja Mayoral, who played the whole match against Rayo Vallecano, closes the year with two goals scored in 19 games played: one in Copa del Rey against Lugo and another in LaLiga against Eibar.
